This has been a terrifying month…

March 2020

The bi-annual ‘Brushstrokes’ Charity Art exhibition I have been preparing for opened at the beginning of the month and I duly submitted three pieces of framed work. The Private View was fun, we joked about not being able to kiss or hug old friends but the exhibition closed early as fears of the spread of Coronavirus increased.

More and more people have fallen ill and health experts have advised us to avoid physical contact, non-essential travel or shopping and to wash our hands frequently. On 23rd of March as the situation worsened the Government ordered the country into lockdown. Fear has taken real hold now as images of hospitals over-run with patients are shown on television. New words and abbreviations - Corona Virus, CV-19 and PPE have become commonplace.

My weekly portrait and life drawing groups have been cancelled indefinitely as have the planned theatre and exhibition vists and special outings with friends. Mother’s Day was marked with cards and flowers but family visits were out of the question.

I barely got into the garden at all.
