I still feel safer at home…

June 2020

Although the number of Coronavirus cases is decreasing and lockdown rules are starting to relax I still feel safer at home and desoite the fine weather I’m happy to be working on the month pages of a 2022 Family Organiser calendar for Heye, my German licensee. In these uncertain times it feels positively optimistic to be taken out of the ‘present' and to be looking forward two years instead!

The days pass quickly. In the garden early flowering perennials are sadly already past their best. Geraniums are flopping and plants in pots need constant watering - the compost bin is filling up all too quickly.

A mass of oriental poppies have appeared in the borders - there has been a lot of inter-breeding since the year that I sowed seeds of deep burgundy ‘Lauren’s Grape’ poppy and my attempts at colour themed borders have now utterly failed. But actually I’m glad.

I’m only too happy with the undisiplined riot of magenta, crimson, scarlet and pink that has appeared without my intervention. Nature rules, OK!
