Garden Diary: April 2018

It’s been a month of changes in the garden…

A rather too narrow flowerbed that used to separate the grass from the sunken patio outside the studio has always seemed awkward and a gravel path leading down to the compost bin has been inaccessible by wheelbarrow due to the level difference.
For months I’ve been scribbling ideas in my ‘do it yourself’ garden notebook, fretting over a solution but not coming up with anything. Now, writing retrospectively I can say that the effort involved in removing part of the lawn (in this case done by someone stronger and younger!) and creating a wide new gravelled area that connects with the path has been worth it.
Elsewhere Clematis ‘White Swan’ is beginning to clothe the old wall and primroses and cowslips are self seeding in the meadow.
I love spring!
