Garden Diary: February 2018

Health is not a normal subject for my garden diary…

For most of February I’ve been laid up with a leg infection, on huge doses of antibiotics, feeling extremely sorry for myself – all because I tripped over a low garden fence and got a small cut on the shin which I ignored.

Accidents in the garden are so common that I now feel compelled to warn all my fellow gardeners to go straight to the doctor at the first sign that a cut is becoming infected. Tetanus booster injections are also often necessary if there has been any soil contact.

Thankfully, lots of t.l.c. and a bunch of ‘Grumpy’ snowdrops from Sandy Larkman (whose day in her pottery studio I had to miss) worked magic and now I can’t wait to get those gardening gloves back on again!
