April 2014

I WISH…I could say these pictures were taken in my garden but my batch of April photos are just too dreary to use and progress this month has been slow.

Inspiration came though during a walk in the woods where bluebells, kingcups, celandine, stitchwort and campion created such an exquisite tapestry of colour it took my breath away and, although I hardly dare say it, made me temporarily question why I bother to garden at all.

A visit to a town garden open for charity nearby was further food for thought and is the source of the ‘wild meadow’ pictures here. Edged by a low box hedge, a section of uncut grass was brightly studded with bluebells, narcissi and tulips. Dandelions merely added to the charm and the vivid green of the grasses was the perfect foil.

Now I am planning our own mini ‘meadow garden’ here – hopefully in April 2015 you will see the evidence!
