April 2015

SO MUCH TO DO…and so much that is nothing but sheer hard graft!

In one corner of the garden the wood-shed is full of broken bricks, debris and rubble, discovered to our horror while digging out the Macleaya. Bagged up for the dump we are clearing it at snails pace. Three bags are all that are accepted per day and as fast as we get rid of the debris yet more takes it’s place!

I am panicking at how much there is to do before the ‘Suffolk Open Studios’ event I have joined takes place in June. My studio is just about ready – with (surprise surprise) less actual new work to show than I would wish but the garden has still got a long way to go.

There is progress…new curves have been carved from the lawn and more planting done. Tulips are blooming (yes the discarded bulbs have proved to be fine!) and delicate petals of Magnolia stellata are opening in the spring sunshine.
